A cheap Caribbean vacation usually comes down to three choices: travel outside the winter peak, pick an island with easy flights from your city, and compare the full trip, including flights, resort fees and transfers. World Sky members book Bahamas, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic stays at member rates, with the 200% Promise on price.
Low season, same viewWater this clear does not change with the calendar. Traveling outside the winter peak is one of the simplest ways to pay less for it.
"Cheap" in the Caribbean rarely means a bargain-basement hotel. It usually means paying less for the same beach: flying on the right days, picking an island your home airport serves well, and knowing the full cost before you book.
This guide covers five spots World Sky members can book: the Bahamas, Jamaica, San Juan in Puerto Rico, and Punta Cana and Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. For each one you get the airport code, what it is known for, and how to keep the trip affordable. There are no made-up prices here, because real prices change daily. You get the method instead.

Nassau's airport sits a short flight from Florida. Popular for all-inclusive stays and quick long weekends.
Hop to the Bahamas Bonus trip pick · MBJJamaicaMontego Bay's airport serves the north coast resort towns, with Negril to the west and Ocho Rios to the east.
Hop to Jamaica Bonus trip pick · SJUSan Juan, Puerto RicoA U.S. territory that uses the U.S. dollar, with the colorful streets of Old San Juan close to the beaches.
Hop to San Juan Sample trip · PUJPunta CanaThe eastern tip of the Dominican Republic, known for long beaches lined with all-inclusive resorts.
Hop to Punta Cana Sample trip · POPPuerto PlataThe Dominican Republic's north coast, where World Sky's sample trip is 4 days and 3 nights, all-inclusive.
Hop to Puerto PlataMost of the price of a Caribbean trip comes from three places: the flight, the room, and everything you pay for once you land. Move any one of them and the total moves too.
Big booking sites usually push cheap Caribbean vacation packages that bundle a flight and a hotel. Bundles can save money, but they make it harder to see what each part costs. Before you book, price the flight and the room separately at least once, so you know what the bundle is really worth.
There is no single cheapest Caribbean island to visit. A place that is cheap for someone in Miami may cost far more for someone in Denver once flights are added. Start with the islands your nearest airport serves directly, then compare the five spots below.
Technically the Bahamas sit in the Atlantic, but most travelers group them with the Caribbean. Nassau, on New Providence island, is the main gateway through Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS), and it is a short flight from South Florida. That short hop is a big reason an all inclusive vacation in the Bahamas is so popular with East Coast travelers.
To keep costs down, compare resort areas instead of only resorts, and check whether a rate includes resort fees. Many Bahamas Caribbean vacation packages quote per person, so double the number for two adults before you compare. The Bahamas' official tourism site, bahamas.com, lists the islands beyond Nassau if you want quieter options.
Most visitors fly into Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay, on the north coast. From there, the main resort areas are Montego Bay itself, Negril to the west and Ocho Rios to the east. Transfer time from the airport varies a lot between those towns, so add it to your plan when you compare hotels.
Jamaica is one of the 30 bonus destinations in World Sky's Be Our Guest offer, which makes it an easy place to test member travel.
People searching for travel deals for Puerto Rico usually start in San Juan. Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory and uses the U.S. dollar, and Luis Munoz Marin International Airport (SJU) has flights from many U.S. cities. San Juan also mixes beaches with the old city, so you can fill days without paying for tours.
San Juan is on World Sky's list of 30 bonus destinations too. Check current travel requirements for your trip before you go.
Punta Cana sits on the eastern tip of the Dominican Republic and is served by Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ). It is best known for long stretches of beach lined with all-inclusive resorts, which makes comparing like-for-like stays fairly easy. World Sky's Beach Escape sample trip includes 3 nights in Punta Cana. For a deeper look, see our Punta Cana all-inclusive guide.
On the Dominican Republic's north coast, Puerto Plata is served by Gregorio Luperon International Airport (POP). World Sky's sample trip here is 4 days and 3 nights, all-inclusive, for two adults. Our Puerto Plata all-inclusive guide covers the area in detail, and the Dominican Republic's official tourism site, godominicanrepublic.com, is useful for trip ideas.

Demand drives Caribbean prices more than anything else. Prices are usually highest from mid-December through April, when people escape the cold, and around major holidays. The cheapest time to go to the Caribbean is generally late spring, summer and fall.
There is a tradeoff. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, and many of the lowest rates fall inside it. That does not mean you should skip it, but it does mean you should book rates you can change, watch the National Hurricane Center before you leave, and read your cancellation terms.

Searches for cheap Caribbean vacations all inclusive are common, and for good reason: one rate covers the room, meals and most drinks, so the budget is easier to predict. But all-inclusive is only cheaper if you would actually spend that much on food and drinks.
Here is a quick way to judge any Caribbean deal, all-inclusive or not:
