A Cancun all inclusive vacation bundles your room, meals, drinks and most resort activities into one nightly price, so you pay once and stop reaching for your wallet. Most resorts line the Hotel Zone beach strip. World Sky members book these stays, plus flights and rental cars, at member rates in one place.
House drinksUsually included; premium labels often are not.
Cancun sells one idea better than almost anywhere: land, check in, and leave your wallet in the room safe. That is the pitch of the Cancun all inclusive resort, and for many travelers it works. The catch is that "all inclusive" means different things at different resorts, and the lowest nightly rate on a search page is rarely the lowest total price.
This guide covers what Cancun all inclusive rates usually include, which part of the coast fits your trip, the best time to visit Cancun, how to judge a package with flights, and how World Sky Travel Club members book the whole trip at member rates.
At most Cancun resorts, the all inclusive rate covers your room, three meals a day across a buffet and several a la carte restaurants, snacks between meals, and house-brand drinks at the bars and pool. Daytime activities such as pool games, fitness classes and non-motorized water sports are usually part of the price too.
What changes from resort to resort is the fine print. Some limit how many a la carte dinners you can book per stay. Some charge for the beach cabana or the better wine list. Before you compare prices, compare what each rate actually covers.
| Item | Usually included | Often extra |
|---|---|---|
| Food | Buffet, snack bars, some a la carte dinners | Specialty or chef's-table dinners, lobster nights |
| Drinks | House beer, wine, spirits, soft drinks, coffee | Premium or top-shelf labels, bottles of wine |
| Activities | Pools, beach gear, fitness classes, kayaks | Scuba, motorized water sports, golf |
| Wellness | Gym access | Spa treatments, hydrotherapy circuits |
| Getting there | Rarely included | Airport transfers, flights, off-site tours |
| Fees and tips | Varies by resort | Resort fees, local taxes, optional tipping |
Two items catch people most often. The first is airport transfers: the ride from Cancun International Airport (CUN) to your resort is usually a separate booking. The second is local taxes and resort fees, which some sites show only at checkout. Ask for the full total before you pay.

See how"Cancun" on a booking site can mean four very different places. Pick the area first, then the resort.
A long, narrow strip of beach between the Caribbean and a lagoon, lined with resorts, restaurants and nightlife. Easy to get around, and generally busier.
The city itself, away from the beach. More local food and lower prices, with fewer all inclusive resorts.
Newer, quieter resort areas up the coast, where the beaches face calmer water and the pace slows down.
South toward Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen and Tulum. Longer transfers, more jungle, reefs and cenotes nearby.
If you like the Riviera Maya side, read our Tulum all inclusive guide, or see our guide to all inclusive resorts in Mexico.
Adults-only resorts trade kids clubs for quiet pools, swim-up suites and more date-night dining. They suit honeymoons, anniversaries and friends' trips. Ask how the resort defines "adults" (often 16 or 18 and older) and whether the resort shares a beach with a family property next door.
Family resorts are built around kids: shallow pools, splash areas, kids clubs with set hours, and rooms that sleep four or connect. When you compare them, ask what age the kids club starts at, whether it costs extra, and how many a la carte restaurants accept children.
Cancun is warm all year, so "best" depends on what you want to trade: weather, crowds or price.
The Atlantic hurricane season officially runs from June 1 to November 30. Most weeks pass without a storm, but it is worth checking the forecast from the National Hurricane Center before you travel and reading the resort's cancellation terms before you book. Seaweed (sargassum) also washes up on some Caribbean beaches in the warmer months; how much varies by year and by beach.

Search "Cancun all inclusive with flight" and you get a wall of package prices. They are hard to compare because each one bundles something different. Use the same test on every offer:

All inclusive makes it easy to never leave the property. A day or two off-site is usually the part of the trip people remember. Popular options from Cancun include:

December through April is usually the driest and most comfortable stretch, and also the busiest. Summer and early fall are hotter and more humid, and they fall inside the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to November 30. Shoulder months can bring better rates.
Sometimes. A package can bundle a lower airfare, but it can also hide resort fees or add transfers you do not need. Compare the total trip price for the same dates, room type and flight times before you decide.
Pick adults-only if you want quiet pools and a slower pace. Pick a family resort if you are traveling with kids and want kids clubs, shallow pools and connecting rooms. Both kinds are common in Cancun.
